The Canadian Poker Tour, the poker brand of HeadsUp Entertainment International Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it will be televising the Main Event of the Labor Day Open Poker Tournament from the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, Alberta. Two one hour television shows will feature play from the Main Event, a $2700 buy in event with an estimated prize pool of over $500,000. The programs will air later this fall on The Score Television Network, the exclusive network of The Canadian Poker Tour.
A series of 6 events begin Monday August 25th with a $280 Super Satellite tournament for the main event as well as the following events:
August 26 No Limit Hold'em $200 + $20
August 27 Pot Limit Omaha $300 + $30
August 28 Short Handed Hold'em $1000 + $100
August 29 Main Event - Day 1 $2500 + $200
August 30 Main Event - Day 2 $2500 + $200
August 31 Main Event Final Table - Televised
August 31 Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys $200 + $20
Main event players from Day 1 that do not qualify for play on the final Sunday have the opportunity to play on Day 2.
Thursday night will also feature the Canadian Poker Tour Ultimate Players Party to be held in Touch Ultra Lounge at the River Cree Resort and Casino, an event made popular by the management of the Canadian Poker Tour which gives local players an opportunity to socialize and meet celebrity and professional players from around the world.
This tournament will be a qualifying event for the Canadian Poker Tour Invitational Finals which will held as part of the World Poker Showdown's series of events at the Ocean World Resort and Casino in the Dominican Republic January 20-22, 2009.
The winner of the Main Event will also win their buy in, travel and accommodation to the televised National Final where players will compete for a one year sponsorship contract from the Canadian Poker Tour in addition to the prize pool. Players can also qualify to receive an invitation by earning points in all registered Canadian Poker Tour events.
